Prof.Balakrishna’s book ‘The Role of the President of India’ released by Mr. B.K.Sharma at Mumbai Press Club

Mumbai.Mr Brij Kishore Sharma, Chairman of Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, released book ‘The Role of the President of India’ by Prof Balakrishna, Press Attaché of the First President of India – Dr Rajendra Prasad, on 26th September 2015 at Press Club,CST, Mumbai.

Written in early 1990’s, the book is based on a report submitted to the first President of India about his role and powers. When the Constitution came into force on the 26th January 1950, President Dr. Rajendra Prasad was faced with the challenge of interpreting his role based on the given provisions. He queried with the then Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and Attorney General M.C. Setalvad. Being a distinguished Lawyer himself, he felt that the matter needed further examination and entrusted the work to Prof. Balakrishna on confidential basis. Late Professor Balakrishna, the author of the book, joined the Secretariat of the Constituent Assembly of India after an invitation from Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He  was entrusted the work of preparing the Constitution in Hindi. He joined the personal staff of the President as Press Attaché, and later on functioned as his Deputy Secretary. He was sent to Ministry of Law to initiate the preparation of the authoritative texts of Central Laws. After retirement wrote a book in Hindi on Jurisprudence, which published posthumously. The Ministry of Law awarded a prize for the work. Prof Balakrishna had many admirable traits. He refused to use official perks while in office. He was an early proponent of equality of women and also dropped his surname to make a beginning to end the caste system in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Brij Kishore Sharma said “Equating our President to the King of Great Britain was a grave mistake committed by the jurist. The two are as different as chalk and cheese.Had we correctly interpreted the constitution and given to the president the powers contemplated by the constitution there would have been no emergency, no misuse of article 356 and no need of periodical revision of the procedure for appointing the judges.Even now, it is time for the Supreme Court to revisit its decisions on this point.”

“Given the present political scenario, is it time to re-examine the role of the President of India, as originally envisaged in the Constitution but practiced differently. This is the theme of this book.” said Commodore Arun Kumar, AVSM, NM (Retd.), the son of Late professor Balkrishna. Cmde Arun Kumar also announced donating 300 copies of the book to the libraries accessed by rural and poor students, through ‘The Brave New World Foundation,’ a Public Charitable Trust set up to commemorate the memory his exceptionally gifted and bright son, Alyosha Kumar.

One of the India’s eminent Constitutional Lawyer, Mr. Fali S Nariman had sent a message to be read on the occasion. “An elected President notionally represents the collective will of the people – he can use it (and I believe he must use it) to temper the occasional excesses of its elected representatives,” wrote Mr. Fali Nariman in his message.

The event was attended by professor Balakrishna’s sons, Mr. Dharmendra Kumar, Cmde Arun Kumar, Mr Heman Kumar, daughter Prabha Rao, publisher Joseph P Chacko with his wife ,guest Sumit Mehta and relatives and friends. The book has been published by frontier India technology and is priced Rs 250/-

Rebellious Flower

The story is a bouquet of handpicked flowers from the garden of an unending celebration. Inspired on the life of Osho, the film is a first film on the spiritual guru – Rajneesh Osho.

The film narrates life of Raja in his adolescence and youth and moreover a rebellion in him, who is keen to unearth the answers beneath the surface of facts, which are acceptable to others. It beautifully narrates the transition Raja goes through in the phase of enlightenment and sanctity.

His childhood mentor his maternal grandmother called as nani by him, who nurtures his childhood and a strong pillar in his learning phase is very well depicted in the film. Their bond, love and unsaid understanding are soothing therapies of emotional connect.

Rebellious Flower is an anecdote which takes on the path of beliefs, Raja resolves to walk on. In retrospect he surmises that existence is inevitably attained by purely accepting the simplicity of subconscious with the help of his mentors

He embarks on a journey to understand the beauty that lies behind the unexpressed phrases of human perception and this is how he transforms to be a rebellious flower to share the essence and scent of its being, unconditionally.

Mumbai.Gangster Bharat Kalicharan aka Akku Yadav was killed by 200 women in Nagpur district court in 2004, which attracted worldwide attention. It is said that he killed a dozen of people and managed to get acquittal from court. He was a terror in the Kasturba Nagar locality as he used to barge in any house and rape the women and girls with impunity for a decade. The women took 15 minutes to hack to death the gangster. Chilli powder was thrown in his face and stones hurled. One of his alleged victims hacked off his penis with a vegetable knife. 70 stab wounds were found on his body. Yadav was killed not in the dark alleys of the slum, but on the shiny white marble floor of Nagpur district court.

Sunny Leone’s Kannada Film Luv U Alia to see a Hindi release

Mumbai, Director Indrajit Lankesh is back with a bang with his latest offering  ‘Luv U Alia’. The film features Ravichandran and Bhoomika Chawla in the lead. ‘Luv U Alia’ is a Kannada film but the movie is garnering a lot of curiosity in the northern belt as well. It is believed that the reason for this could also be the presence of sexy siren Sunny Leone in the cast. Sunny has already made an impact in Telugu industry with cameos and item numbers. ‘Luv U Alia’ will see Sunny graduate to an interesting role along with a sizzling cameo.

Luv U Alia

Indrajit is best known in the northern belt for launching Deepika Padukone in her debut film ‘Ashwariya’. Deepika’s unprecedented success holds testimony to the fact that Indrajit, clearly has an eye for talent.

Sunny Leone 1

Speaking on casting Sunny, Indrajit said “Sunny is a smart actor. Whether it is her acting or dancing, she is the most-talked about and sought-after actors across the country. She is not just a pretty face with some moves on the dance floor, Sunny is a well rounded film personality. She has managed to give a lot of established actresses in the industry a run for their money. It is not child’s play to carve a niche in such a short time, that too across industries. I have seen her perform in other films and I was sure that she would fit seamlessly in my screenplay.”

The film will see its Kannada release on 18th September 2015, following which it will be releasing in dubbed Hindi pan India. Films hailing from south have been touching new heights in the north belt. In the light of this new formed space at the box office, the makers of ‘Luv U Alia’ have decided to dub the film in Hindi as well.

Talking about Sunny Leone and the Hindi dubbing of the film, Indrajit added, “Given the scale of the film and the new inroads regional cinema has made in the northern belt, Hindi dubbing has always been part of the plan. Sunny’s presence is just a happy coincidence.” The film is being produced by Sammys Magic Cinema.

The music of the song will get any party crowd moving and swaying to its beat and Shahid Mallya has sung this exceptionally well”.

Rishhabh & Kati

Considering the bunch of talented people involved in the making of the song, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the video becoming one of the major chartbusters of the season.

Vikramjit Roy, Head of Sales & Marketing at NFDC was delighted with the support the film received at Venice and said, “We are elated at the reception received by Island City in Venice and are hoping that this will boost our effort at promoting the film internationally”.

About Island City

The film follows three comic-dramatic stories set in Mumbai. The first one is about a middle-aged man who wins the office ‘Fun Committee Award’, which entitles him to a whole day full of fun. He is most reluctant to leave the safety of his cubicle, but he has to. Prescribed fun modules have to be completed and non-compliance is not an option.

The second story begins with an autocratic man whose family brings home a television set when he is critically ill and away in a hospital. Now, every night the family plugs into a popular soap whose hero is a man ideal in every way.

While the third story centers on Aarti whose repetitive existence is slowly making her more and more mechanical and numb. Deep inside ferments a disconnect and unease that she is unable to articulate to anyone. Then one day there arrives a most intimate letter and everything changes.
